Eagles Don’t Flock, They Follow Their Own North Star – Polaris

Howard Hughes

Howard Hughes

Howard Hughes once said…“I’m not a paranoid deranged millionaire. Goddamit, I’m a billionaire.” If you haven’t yet watched the movie “The Aviator” I’d recommend it. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, winning five. The film centers on the life of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes. Man oh man….what a story!

Hughes declared as a young child, “I intend to be the greatest golfer in the world, the finest film producer in Hollywood, the greatest pilot in the world, and

the richest man in the world.” Truly outstanding that he went on to create extraordinary success in all of these areas. He managed to turn his $1 million inheritance into a $2 billion fortune. Equivalent to $6.6 billion in today’s dollars, Howard Hughes was and still would be considered one of the richest men in the world.

The movie depicts his pure passion for film making and also what could only be described as an obsession with Aviation. He relentlessly pursues his careers. With his level of dedication and passion, it is of little surprise that he went on to leave a legacy of such proportions. And certainly not without it’s challenges. Hughes is remembered for his eccentric behaviour and reclusive lifestyle in later life, caused in part by a worsening obsessive–compulsive disorder. His legacy is maintained through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Have you seen the movie The Aviator? I’d love to hear your thoughts…

Have not seen the Aviator yet. Will watch this week so I can share my thoughts.

    With this in mind,
I came across recently a person with an email address “billionairementor@………..”
After speaking with the guy, I was shaking my head at his demeanor. Although he had created a result in his life of 250k/yr or so… He had not himself made a billion or even a million.

It’s great to actually follow the lead, and learn from those whom HAVE DONE IT!
    Thanks for the tip!

just another reason I love Polaris Global!

Great movie! What was really remarkable about Howard Hughes is that he kept pushing through adversity…that is a quality that every successful person has. This is when you pull out your raw human spirit and push through whatever may be a challenge because your goal is worth working towards. A great skill I have learned through using Beyond Freedom.

Thank you for sharing this Rach. I just watched the trailer and already so inspired by the man, his passions and his purpose.

It’s so aligned with all that we strive to become and achieve as entrepreneurs with Polaris and just in the few minutes of the trailer I found so many comparisons to the lessons in our Beyond Freedom Evolution curriculum – daring to dream, playing to win, breaking away from the herd and following our North Star. Howard Hughes certainly was an outstanding example of these principals in action and truly was his own guru!

Interestingly but not all that surprising was that he was considered a threat and condemned by many for his visionary capacity and bold actions. So many parallels to our own journeys here!

After watching this I’m even more excited about the future I’m creating for myself and others with Polaris Global!

Wow Rachel, an exciting human being was Howard Hughes; wonderful movie too. the guy never gave up. Beyond Freedom showed me that passion is a necessary ingredient if you want to do something with alacrity; and that you should continue to follow your dreams notwithstanding any adversity that may be thrown at you. Witness Howard Hughes; he seemed to have the world lined up against him and particularly owners of other airlines that did not want Howard to succeed. But he kept on and on till he did succeed and started TWA ! An extraordinary human being; something that I strive to be too. the lessons i have learned and am learning from Beyond Freedom Evolution will assist me on my wonderful journey. Thanks for reminding me about this great movie and this amazing man.

Great message in the movie Rachel, it’s a funny thing how human beings are so quick to want to put down the efforts of people like Howard Hughes. The guy was a genius, but with foibles, as most of us are. Doing work on my own attitude with Polaris Global core product Beyond Freedom Evolution sure helps with all that “background chatter” competing for time. Howard Hughes certainly had his sure of “knockers”, but just like his aeroplane designs he just persistently kept moving forward to get his projects of the ground. Spruce Goose it, I say.

    Hi Rachel.

I realise you wrote this article a while back but when I read it I made a mental note to watch The Aviator at some point… well, I have now seen it. Awesome! What an inspiration Howard Hughes is to entrepreneurs. I loved that the movie portrayed him as a real person, with his idiosyncracies and personal challenges… just as we all have in some way or another. I also loved how when Mr Hughes was experiencing some of the worst adversity in his life and his fears seemed about to get on top of him, he rose to the challenge and crushed any doubt that a person determined to achieve their goal would not triumph. I am moved and inspired and more determined than ever!!!!

    kindest regards
    Gaye
