Time Management – How do you manage your time?LeeAnne Bartlet

For me, being a mother of 2 very young girls and owning 2 businesses, time management was a very important part of my life. I never used to be this way though.

I used to be so busy doing things, I was all over the place. No real structure, no plan. I would check emails, make phone calls, just do things in an โ€œall over the placeโ€ way and wondered why I never had any spare time?

How did this change for me? Two things happened:

1. I put together a strong DMO (Daily method of Operation) and

2. I started working on myself and creating a better energy to get Law of Attraction working in my favour instead of against.

DMO (Daily Method of Operation)

It can take some time to get into the routine, but itโ€™s very worthwhile to make the effort. I personally use Gmail (Email and Calendar)ย  to schedule all my appointments, phone calls, even time with my family. Because when working with a DMO you need to have everything scheduled in or you may forget to do something. You have to also be strict with it. So if you have from 10-11am to check emails only check them at that time, otherwise you will find that you can waste hours all day checking emails. It only takes 21 days to form a new habit, once you have been running by a DMO for a month I guarantee you will wonder where all this spare time came from.

Law Of Attraction

For me personally the Law of Attraction plays just as big a part as my DMO. The reason for this is when you are in a place of good vibrations, in the flow and loving everything you are doing you will naturally attract more things that you love doing and new opportunities into your existence. You can do all the ACTION in the world which will use up a lot of TIME in your life, and if you are doing this from the wrong vibration you will find yourself being busy and filling time with non productive activities and a whole pile of ACTION which is not producing any results.

Would love to hear how you manage your time effective? What strategies do you use?

Mmmmmm……………..this is NOT a goodie for me (or to improve my language it WASN’T a goodie for me UNTIL NOW!)

I love this blog Lee Anne because it is really timely for the New Year, for where I am driving my mindset at the moment and as a very practical way to set myself up for 2014 to be my best year ever!

I have eliminated TV. The only exception to this is a show I love about “picking” – ie 2 guys driving around to buy old junk to re-purpose from other collectors of stuff. A bit like a permanent garage sale.
Anyway the point is I record the program episodes and only watch them during my scheduled “down” time. I no longer turn on TV to watch programs willy nilly and I LOVE how much more time I have for creative pursuits (like blogging).

I have just started ordering groceries online too. I used to shop daily because the supermarket is close by and I kidded myself that “fresh is best”. It is also a very powerful distraction, as I would then go past the PO, pick up the mail, get the dry cleaning, pop past Bunnings, which would turn a food shop into a 2 hour event!

Ordering online weekly saves me mega hours a week and I have barely left the house at all this past week except to walk the dog!

What are other people doing to create more time?

I agree Elizabeth, I don’t watch TV either, it really just doesn’t interest me anymore. I feel I am wasting time x when i could be doing things more worth while. Online shopping, my favourite thing to do also x

I have always been an organised person but I have had to step it up since joining the Polaris Global family.

I work shift work as an operating theatre nurse so it’s difficult to get a routine going. However I’ve bought a diary with a page for each day. On each day I’m putting my shift, then assigning the remaining hours in the day to the six daily activities, exercise and fun time!
I”m a tactile person so like actually writing things down. I think it reinforces my memory too!!

Well, it’s only Jan 12th but so far so good!

This is a major hurdle and I am exactly as you have described Lee Anne. All over the place.
I find that I am very distracted by emails and Facebook.
To overcome this. each day when logging in to Facebook, I use a great deal of willpower to skip my personal page and go straight to my business page.. I have also turned the sound off so that I don’t hear each email when it comes in. This way I find I am more able to concentrate on the productive activities that I need to be doing.

    Thank you so much

Great work Sarra ๐Ÿ™‚ A list can be a great way to keep track. Jan i think you just need to be very strict with your DMO and work on that. A new habit takes 21 days.. so get started and soon you will be telling us all how organised you are xx There is another tip.. New affirmation for you Jan.. I am organised

Thanks, some great comments and suggestions on how to better get organised. I enjoy what I do, that’s because I am doing what I love, using my compass settings and heading towards my North Star. I love personal development and helping other people achieve their goals in life. Thanks Polaris!!

Success is in the journey, not the destination. Ever since that I have realised this great way of thinking, life is so much more enjoyable, real and worthwhile. Live and enjoy, I also enjoy giving away my smile to people who may not have one at that time. It’s really like a ‘hug’ – you can’t give one without receiving one back!!

Lee Anne’s DMO (Daily Method of Operation) is great and I have adopted it, into my busy schedule with success. But the great part is that I am still learning and I know that I will get better.

  8. Mike D says:

I do find it difficult to get organised and work to a proper DMO, I won’t say why, that would just be an excuse and they don’t serve me well. I have spent far to long being a busy fool thats why I have decided like most of us that 2014 is going to be my best year and I will be organised.

  9. Pam B says:

A DMO has struck a cord! Basic and simple the idea would have to work if used to its full optimal function. I will be putting this into place as a personal goal.

  10. Berni I says:

Good one, organisation is paramount to FREEDOM
